Hostel Santa Monaca
Description
The S. Monaca hostel is located in an ancient convent of the 15th century in the historical centre of Florence in the quarter of S. Spirito, on the south bank of the Arno River (Oltrarno), 500 meters from the Ponte Vecchio, and 15 minutes walking distance from the Cathedral, the central train station (S.M.N. Santa Maria Novella) and other main attractions of Florence. As this is an independent youth hostel there is no age limit and a YHA card is not required. The hostel has been running for 40 years, the service, price, hospitable atmosphere, and the young dynamic management all make S. Monaca one of the best known and most popular hostels in Florence. By train you may reach in about one hour: Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Arezzo and the Versilia seaside. Rome and “Cinque Terre” are about 2 hours away. The Hostel has 114 places in rooms with 4-6-8-10 and larger dormitories with bunk beds. Rooms and dormitories can be separated or mixed. Bathrooms are located on every floor. You may have breakfast, lunch and dinner in a small restaurant nearby at low prices. Groups need to reserve in advance.
Direction
From the main train station you can walk here in 15/20 minutes (see the city map on our web site for directions) or simply get bus N 36, 37 or 11, second stop after the bridge.By walk, you have to locate Piazza Santa Maria Novella next to the main train station. From there you should walk down to the river ARNO going through Via de Fossi. Cross the bridge "CARRAIA" and go stright ahead to the second traffic light (about 200 mt from the bridge) and then turn right into via S. Monaca. We are on number 6. Check also for the signs indicating "OSTELLO" after the bridge.
